Choose the right version

Start with the form’s task, then choose your industry. Some versions add a client, crew, project or reporting-period field. Open the preview to check the actual layout before downloading.

Business form PDFs use US Letter paper. Fillable versions accept text in a compatible PDF reader; totals are entered manually. Download and save a copy before adding private customer information.

Choose an estimate for proposed work

An estimate records the scope and prices you are proposing. It is different from an invoice for billed work. Choose the industry whose field labels fit your job, then inspect every preview page rather than assuming all versions contain the same sections.

A two-page electrical estimate example

The electrical estimate puts customer and circuit / fixture details, panel-access status, estimate number and Valid until on page 1. The scope table, subtotal, tax, estimated total and print-sign approval area are on page 2. Keep both pages together. State assumptions in the scope description or an attached proposal; do not imply the form has a dedicated exclusions or permit section.

Before sharing a proposal

  1. State the requested outcome and quantity units.
  2. Distinguish included work from optional items in the description or supporting proposal.
  3. Check every amount manually; for arithmetic only, 2 × 60 plus 1 × 40 equals 160 before any applicable tax.
  4. Set the validity date and keep the accepted version. If the scope changes, issue a clearly identified revision.

For recording requested work after planning, see the HVAC work order; it records tasks and status rather than a quoted total.
